Carbonbusters is a 3D city-building simulation game that tackles the negative effect of car-centric cities by taking on the role of a carbon specialist on a mission to shape a greener cityscape. The player can transform the city by creating better transit routes with sidewalks, bike lanes, green spaces, and more.
This game was made in Godot as part of IndieCade Climate Jam 2024.

User Flow
I created user flows to map out how the player would engage with the game as a first-time player and how they would interact with the main building gameplay mechanic.

Wireframe
The first round of wireframes I designed helped to lay out the overall gameplay layout and player mechanics including the tile interaction system and build menu as well as testing how key information such as the happiness and emissions meter might appear.

After discussing the key UI elements and user interactions with developers on my team, I reiterated the designs to account for changes such as removing the demolish functionality due to deadlines and adding a game speed menu with a day/night cycle added to our game. I also redesigned the UI icons with the Sims as a style reference.

UI Test
Once the developers had the base of the game built, I assisted with implementing the UI into Godot with our game designers to test the visibility in daytime and nighttime.
